ARCA Condemns Azerbaijani Attacks Against Armenia

The Armenian Rights Council of America strongly condemns the unprovoked attacks that targeted the civilian populations of the Chinari and Tavush regions along the Armenian-Azeri international border, and the blatant violation of a hard-earned peace process by the Azeri military.

Based on the latest reports, infantry units of the Azeri army, supported by no less than ultra-modern military drones and artillery, subjected the local population of the northern border to an aggressive military operation, and a simultaneous cyber-attack on Armenian governmental websites. 

It is not only irresponsible, but criminal, to violate a peace process, and nothing at all justifies subjecting peaceful civilians going about their daily lives to military aggression. While remaining silent and complacent to such outrageous acts by the Azeri military is plainly immoral, any arguments condoning such criminal acts by the Azeri military deserves to be called for what they are: disgraceful. Therefore, the Armenian Rights Council condemns Turkey’s unashamed support of the Azeri military aggression - a support that is as criminal and malicious as the attacks themselves. 

For more than 45 years ARCA has been striving for a world based on the respect of human rights, justice, and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. The escalation of military operations by Azerbaijan with the encouragement of Turkey is not and will not contribute to stability and peace in the region. We call on our US government to act swiftly and decisively by exerting pressure on both Azerbaijan and Turkey to restrain them from undertaking any additional ill-advised endeavors.
